Waiver Wire Tuesday: Now with Bye Weeks!

Hopefully your fantasy team survived the weekend and Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce for 4 TDs Monday night.

Hopefully.

Week 5 saw some better football overall, but also saw a few guys go down. Who will be the QB in Miami for Week 6? It’s too soon to tell. Did you go all in on Zappe as the Patriots skunked the Lions? Or maybe you finally thought this was the week to play Goff at QB. Yeah. Like Russell Wilson all season long.

In addition to losing guys you just started to like, like Rashaad Penny and Christian Watson, you’ve also got the Titans, Raiders, Texans, and Lions on bye.

That’s a lot of running back power, if nothing else.

That said, Week 6 we’re going to mostly look at RB, of which there is next to none at this point.

Only players owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! leagues make the list.

QBs

Geno Smith — 37% owned

This is really the only guy under 50% that feels like someone you could trust week in, week out. Which is crazy to say. Seattle right now is averaging the 7th most points in the league, and have put up close to 35 over their last 3 games.

And if you saw the way Geno was finding Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf down the field, it was very scary, especially for a team that no one had any prospects for at the beginning of the season. Losing Rashaad Penny will be hard, but Walker is a rookie that can carry the load.

Or Geno will.

RBs

Kenneth Walker III — 47% owned

You can trust me!

If he’s sitting on your waiver wire, grab him.

That’s it. Especially if you need a bye week fill-in.

I almost guarantee he’s like 90% owned next week.

Latavius Murray — 19% owned

Mike Boone got nothing on this!

Everyone is high on Mike Boone after the Javonte Williams injury in Denver. But Denver stole Murray right off the Saints’ plate when they weren’t looking for a reason. Murray is still a dynamic back that could maybe even start for a few teams in the league. He can definitely be the 1-2 punch with Melvin Gordon, and with as much as Gordon has fumbled of late, Murray might even be the one to see the majority of goal-line carries.

And now I’ve probably jinxed him.

Gus Edwards — 14% owned

Edwards is coming off the PUP list this week. He may not play in Week 6, but he’s a great bench stash at this point. He looked like he came out of nowhere to have the hot hand in Baltimore this past two years, and I expect they’re looking forward to using him and Dobbins together to expand that run game that’s been largely Lamar up to this point.

Eno Benjamin — 12% owned

Stay away man, I gotta stay healthy!

Again, largely a bench stash unless you need him this week…he appears to be the only running back in Arizona that’s healthy. Conner will probably try to come back and play in Week 6, but how long he goes is unanswerable. And if he softens up the D for Benjamin in the 2nd half, fantasy owners won’t be complaining.

Dontrell Hilliard — 13% owned

Total bench stash since Titans are on bye and a homer pick, maybe, but Hilliard has been involved in the Titans offense so far this season and will continue to be as Tannehill doesn’t have a ton of weapons.

And if something were to happen to King Henry…

WRs

Khalil Shakir — 2% owned

Gotta be fierce to play with Josh Allen!

With both Jamison Crowder and Isaiah McKenzie out in Buffalo, Shakir is the guy in the 3rd spot for now, and even had a strong showing in Week 5 under the shadow of Gabe Davis. That’s all to say that you can probably still get him on the sly as no one is looking at the Bills as having anything on the waiver wire.

TEs

Taysom Hill — 31% owned

Look, Yahoo! still ranks him as a TE,QB…I’m not sure about other sites. But he’s the guy to get. Especially with as lousy as TE has been this season outside of like 3 guys.

You’d probably rather have the potential of Taysom Hill in your starting line-up than Darren Waller or Kyle Pitts…and that’s really saying something.

GOOD LUCK SURIVING THE FIRST BYE WEEK!

You just want the man on your team!
