As we move further into the NFL season, things continue to get more and more wacky.
Raise your hand if you’re not a Seahawks homer and you had the Sea-birds at 6-3 and clearly leading their division at the halfway point.
Raise your hand if you had the Packers losing to the Lions when they should be in midseason form, or the Vikings somehow 7-1…Frank Reich, once a Coach of the Year candidate, the 2nd coach out the door…
Or that the Jets would take it to the Bills and overcome being double digit underdogs at home in Week 9.
Hell, the entire AFC East is over .500 while the entire NFC South is under…and both divisions are still anyone’s game.
Well, except maybe Carolina, who after a strong showing might have had the wheels finally come off the cart this week. But that’s it. That’s the only team this season you can really look at and have no confidence in where they’re going. Them and the Raiders…though the Raiders feel more bit by the bad luck bug than anything else. That said, it feels like teams like Houston, Jacksonville, Chicago, and even Detroit are starting to figure things out.
What a long, strange season it’s been.
So let’s hop back and the waiver and see who’s left getting as there’s been a star on there still, it seems, every week!
As always, only players owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! leagues make the list.
QBs
Andy Dalton — 15% owned
It’s gotten to the nitty gritty with QBs, let’s just be honest. Justin Fields last week might have been the last one worth grabbing for the season. The only other ones under 50% owned…Mariota, who has a divisional game this week, Baker, who you don’t want, Taylor Heinicke? Maybe. But not next week against the Eagles…and then Wentz is supposed to come back.
You could go ahead and stash the molester if he’s sitting on your waiver wire, but that’ll probably make you feel grimey about the rest of your fantasy season.
Zach Wilson? Sam Ehlinger? Only if you absolutely have to. A WR3 could probably get you more points in a Super Flex than either of those guys.
And if you haven’t listened to me about Daniel Jones yet, you’re not going to start this week.
So that leaves Dalton.
Yeah, I hope you have a QB already.
RBs
Jeff Wilson Jr. –52% owned
Okay, he’s over 50, but he’s just over 50% and not owned. Gus Edwards is another guy at 51%.
At this point, it’s a lot like QB. There isn’t much left, and we’ve seen the guys on it.
Chuba Hubbard is still there, sitting at 33%, but there’s no telling. But D’Onta Foreman was banged up this week, so maybe it is Hubbard coming out the backfield.
So, those three guys, in that order. Man, the waiver looking slim!
WRs
Mecole Hardman — 48% owned
Making the list again, which is kind of shocking. I’d argue that right now, outside of Kelce, he is Patty Mahomes’ WR1, not Juju.
So, with that in mind, shouldn’t he be on your bench at least, if not in your starting line-up.
More and more it seems he’s taking the place of Tyreek Hill as the do everything speedster, and he’s probably part of the reason why the Chiefs were able to just let Hill go in the first place.
Get you some Hardman!
DeAndre Carter — 31% owned
With Keenan Allen still out and now Mike Williams out, Carter becomes the defacto WR1 for Justin Herbert. In that position this past weekend, Carter pulled in 5 for 53, but was out-targeted by Michael Bundy, who is 0% owned and therefore probably also available on your waiver wire.
Carter doesn’t have a ton of value outside of these injuries, so this is more just a one or two week rental, but he’ll get you 10 in PPR.
TEs
Greg Dulcich — 35% owned
We’ve talked about him before, and really, he’s going to be on the list every week until y’all put him over 50%.
He’s coming off the Bye, and Russ and the Broncos look like they might, just possibly maybe I’m going to eat my words, that they might have started to put things together in Week 8.
Regardless, since his introduction to the field, Dulcich has caught for at least 40 yards, with the yardage increasing each outing.
In a time of no TEs you want a Dulcich on your squad!
