The Bills came out with a fire, overcoming 4 total turnovers to beat the Rams handily on their home terf.
The Josh Allen/Stefon Diggs connection hasn’t lost any of its umph in the off-season, and it looks like both Gabe Davis and Isaiah McKenzie are more than ready to get into the mix as well.
And that defense, with Von Miller now, looks ferocious. We’ll see if they can keep it up with the whole season, but for one night…Stafford got sacked 7 times and picked off thrice!
The biggest question mark, and that goes for both teams, is the running game, which was largely non-existent outside of Allen himself. Otherwise first year back Cook lost a fumble on his first touch and Zack Moss added his own fumble late in the game.
The only real highlight for the Rams was Cooper Kupp, who also picked right back up from his breakout 2021 season, but other than that, the Rams looked very much like a team that on a Super Bowl hangover that didn’t play much in the preseason. And in a much improved NFC, the Rams are going to have to find answers quickly if they even want to pretend this season could be about repeating as champions.
The rest of Week 1 match-ups seem to contain an intriguing tidbit for nearly anyone.
The Bears and 9ers feature two of the highest rated young guns at QB getting their first real taste of leadership.
Saints at Falcons reunite the former 2015 Top 2 Draft Picks in Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, both on new teams hoping for real glory.
Steelers at Bengals will give us our first look at Joe Burrow and company post-Super Bowl loss as well as be the first test for if Tomlin can avoid a losing season in Pittsburgh.
Eagles at Lions would usually be a Week 1 throwaway game, but may lowkey be the best match-up of the week.
If it isn’t Patriots at Dolphins is a close runner-up, as we get to see two more young QBs attempt to bring their teams back to playoff glory.
Ravens at Jets is a weird revenge game for Flacco, right?
Jaguars at Commanders might be the one dud, but c’mon, you know you want to see how T. Law does with a real coach.
Browns at Panthers is another weird revenge game, this time for Baker.
Colts at Texans is a tale of two teams on different paths, as the Colts look to make a playoff push with Matt Ryan while the Texans are in total rebuild mode with Davis Mills.
Packers at Vikings was already a good game, but even moreso when you hear that all the Kings including the Kid took the Vikings to win!
Chiefs at Cardinals gives us Mahomes v. Murray, which is bound to be entertaining and high scoring.
Giants at Titans should let us know if the G-men have a prayer to be relevant this season and if the Titans can recover from getting bounced from the first round despite the #1 seed last year.
Raiders at Chargers could, in some ways, be a Week 1 play-in game as we’re predicting the AFC West to be the most tightly contested division in football.
Buccaneers at the Cowboys is obviously NFL Sunday night greatness with ‘America’s Team’ hosting the ‘GOAT’.
And then Monday Night Football holds the final revenge game of the week, as Russ and the Broncos head to Seattle to see if Pete Carroll and company has a hope of a prayer this season.
