Waiver Wire Tuesday: Scavenging the Wasteland

As we inch closer to Thanksgiving weekend and the feast of football that will be upon us, we’re left to look in the wasteland around us to see what’s still left before we consume all that stuffing.

There’s some fantasy players in that falling down hotel, I know…

And just like at my house, the fantasy wasteland is pretty bare, and at a time when a lot of y’all probably need it. The Dolphins, Seahawks, Bucs, and Jags are on bye this week, meaning we’re losing a whole lot of receivers and running backs, and maybe even 4 fantasy starting quarterbacks depending what you’re doing with T. Law and the GOAT this season.

Because we’re finally starting Geno, right? Right?

At least he’s off the waiver list. Sitting at 82% owned right now…which is more than Rodgers…

Hey, but Green Bay won, and a different wide receiver finally stepped up. We’ll talk about that, I’m sure, in a second.

For now, let’s peak around the corners to see if there are any gems left out there in the fantasy wasteland.

As always, only players owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! leagues make the list.

QBs

The Molester — 37% owned

That’s really it, and I’m not recommending him to you. I hope he stays 37% owned, or it drops. Unless you’re playing in a big money league (that’s the Browns excuse, right?), I don’t know how you play him without feeling just a little gross. Or a lot gross.

Yeah. Three weeks away, though. Unless all the sudden the Browns develop a set of morals, out goes Brissett, who hasn’t looked awful this season, and is 15% owned if you need a one week fill-in, albeit against the Bills who are going to be angry after that loss last week to the Vikes.

But the other options aren’t any better. Mariota’s still sitting there at 33%. He could serve as a one week fill-in against the Bears, but who knows. Them Bears mercurial.

RBs

Gus Edwards — 50% owned

Right at 50% owned and should be back and healthy following the Ravens bye week last week.

There’s not much to talk about here. As much as Lamar is trying, the Ravens have no pass offense. They’re going to run the ball, or get it to their backs in the flat. That means a lot of Drake and Edwards and Lamar on options.

In PPR, feels like Edwards might be a must.

Rachaad White — 45% owned

If you go back to my Week 9 Waiver Wire, you could have practically had a playoff fantasy team still with those pick-ups.

Somehow White is still 45% available. He won’t be after this week, even with the Bucs going on bye.

Get him while he’s hot!

Isiah Pacheco — 25% owned

I might have been a little early to the game when I recommended Pacheco back in Week 5, but it seems now is the time. Sure, his stats from last week aren’t fabulous, only 82 yards, but it’s more what CEH got, which is 0 carries.

So, he’s looking to be the RB1 going forward on the Chiefs…that feels like a good stash still.

WRs

Donovan Peoples-Jones — 35% owned

I’m going to keep saying it, DPJ is a guy you want on your bench, maybe even in your starting line-up. His numbers continue to improve opposite Amari Cooper, and you have to believe that once the Molester gets back on the team, well, his numbers will continue to improve.

DeAndre Carter — 30% owned

As long as Michael Williams and Keenan Allen are out, Carter has legit WR2/3 fantasy value as Herbert really doesn’t have anyone else to throw the ball to. And as Carter gets more comfortable being used as a weapon in that offense, his role should continue even when Williams does come back. Who knows about Allen…like 8 seasons or so of always being injured might have finally caught up to him.

Christian Watson — 10% owned

Watson promises to score more after overcoming fear of Lambeau Leap!

Hey everyone, Watson caught the ball. Rodgers has been throwing it at him all season to see him either run a route wrong or drop a deep bomb. Even on Sunday, Watson slowed up and caused Rodgers to overthrow him. But that’s okay, the Packers won, and Watson went for 107 and 3 TDs.

So, maybe he’s the guy?

TEs

Hayden Hurst — 48% owned

I’m guessing his ownership dropped during the bye last week as there’s no reason to hold onto two TEs this season unless you somehow have like Mark Andrews and Travis Kelce (I did mention I had a buddy do that rounds 1 & 2 of a draft?).

That said, Hurst isn’t a game breaking TE, but he’ll get you a steady 8 points…which is more than most TEs this season.

Foster Moreau — 17% owned

Foster agreeing that is he was a dessert he’d eat himself.

With Darren Waller hurt, Moreau has been the go-to TE for the Raiders. But even with Waller healthy, there’s nothing to say the Raiders are going to go away from Moreau going forward this season. So far Waller owners in general are wishing they hadn’t wasted like a 5th round pick on him when there’s been better TE play on the waiver wire in general. So, yeah, maybe it’s Moreau for you going forward.

That’s it!

Next week, we may change it up. We’ll see.

Good luck this week!

See, you can trust me. I high pointed last week without Jefferson or Saquon or Lamb or …
